First, I know that books and other publications aren’t generally measured this way, but since high-school/college I’ve never been able to shake the desire to see how many pages I could write. This afternoon I more or less finished a short story submission I started on July 22nd. Today is August 4th, which means that in about two weeks of writing (somewhat intermittently I admit) I completed about 30 pages of story.
Rate-wise I’m falling under my target of 1000 words per day (only about 750), although if I give myself a weekend I end up right on target at about 1000 words per day.
I’ve written longer, more involved things in the past. But none of them involved any creativity of any sort, just collections of systems specifications or software specification documentation. So, forgive me, if I look at this latest milestone as something of an accomplishment at the same time. I’m pretty happy with it, although I might need to rework the ending a tad.
