What’s in a Name?

First, it’s warm out this evening and there are frogs along the irrigation ditch singing in the twilight. My therapist has asked me to mark and remember moments or places of calm and peace and this is one of them. I wish I could share this, it’s beautiful music.

Next up, between the insurance paperwork, visits to doctors and therapists, and periodic or acute symptoms I’ve had some time to think about what I’d like to be when I grow up. So plans are forming, ideas are being articulated and possibilities are being investigated.

Tomorrow I’m meeting with the Small Business Development Council at the college to talk with them about developing a plan to act on some of these dreams. Briefly I’d like to build and sell velomobiles here in North America. I’d like to make each vehicle both a well built piece of efficient engineering and an expression of hand crafted art. For me this is an opportunity to create a way of life that more closely conforms to my values and enable my mobility.

For those of you reading this and wondering if this is the end of my association with Microsoft never fear, this is just me learning and developing and trying to heal. I plan on coming back, doing my job, doing good work. While I’m healing I’m using this time to plan for my future.

In the mean time I need some help. “What’s in a name? That which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet.” But name it we must, please take a moment to help me narrow down my list of ideas by participating in this very brief poll.
